Mr. Joseph M. Matalon is Chairman of ICD Group Holdings Limited which has interests in real estate, construction and development, property management, general insurance underwriting and brokering, business process outsourcing (BPO), and social media through its subsidiary and associated companies: British Caribbean Insurance Company Limited, West Indies Home Contractors Limited, CGM Gallagher Group, WIHCON Properties Limited, Advantage Communications Inc., Social Media Group and Amber Connect.
Mr. Matalon holds directorships on a number of private and public sector boards, including, RJR Communications Group, Scotia Group Jamaica Limited, Victoria Mutual Pensions Management, and the International Youth Foundation. He serves, and has served, on the boards of several charitable organisations that support activities in inner-city communities, education and youth development.
He served as President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica during the period 2009 to 2012 and has chaired and served on a number of special-purpose national committees that have advised Governments on economic, tax and financial policy matters. He is also the Chairman of the Office of Utilities Regulation which regulates the electricity, telecommunications and water sectors in Jamaica.
In 2012, Mr. Matalon was recognised for his contribution to Jamaica’s public and private sectors and to community service and was appointed by the Government of Jamaica, to the Order of Distinction in the Rank of Commander (C.D.).
